Life Lesson from the Ghetto?

Rap songs are seldom a source of good advise or life altering wisdom, but every once in a while if you really listen you may be surprised. One of my favorite rap songs is Ghetto by Akon. An interesting song in it's entirety, but the best of it has to be the second verse. It's not quite the same written out, but if you know the song you will appreciate it:

No need to cherish luxuries, cause everything come and go
even the life that you have is borrowed
cause you're not promised tomorrow.
So live your life as if every days' gonna be your last.
Once you move forward can't go back
best prepare to remove your past.

Sometimes I get so ahead of myself that I forget to just enjoy the moment and the day for what it is, instead of what it isn't. It's good to have a little reminder once in a while to ground you once again. It may come from somewhere as unlikely as a rap song, or something as heart warming as a baby's smile :); perhaps even a hot cup of tea at the end of the day, or the comfort of your dog's head in your lap. There is 86,400 fabulous moments in each day. Live every one of them.
